The story will have 100 episodes in total, and they will stay free forever. It's suitable for ages 12 and up. We cover the most useful and important German, which is all the words and grammar of the first level, A1. But also advanced learners benefit from it, because it goes much deeper than the standard A1 level. German Stories is one and a half years in the making, and it?s the most ambitious and unconventional German learning podcast yet. We hope you enjoy our show!

German Stories starts from zero, and leads you to your goal in small stepsIt's not difficult to create a learning story and jump to complicated grammatical structures early on, just so the author doesn't have a hard time writing. But it's very difficult to fit your writing into a well structured teaching plan, so that the student doesn't have too much trouble learning German.
We did it the hard way. Hard for us, easy for you: Luckily there's only a little bit of grammar per episode for you to learn. If you're curious about our motivations behind putting in so much effort, go to german-stories.com/the-best-way-to-learn-german

Why we made German StoriesWe felt that the best way to learn German is NOT using the old style teaching material with chapters full of tiny texts and unrelated stories. Our idea was to spoon-feed you German in very small bits. And to tell you parts of one big story at the same time. An awesome, full-blown story with different storylines that continues throughout all lessons. We wanted to keep you motivated and say "I can't wait to find out what happens next episode!" German Stories starts from zero, and leads you to your goal in small stepsIt's not difficult to create a learning story and jump to complicated grammatical structures early on, just so the author doesn't have a hard time writing.

He offers to help and says maybe someone just borrowed it. He suggests a party because that would be a good opportunity for Paul to ask around. But Paul has no nerve for a party and prefers to ask everybody in the group chat. Fritz learns that Laura's profile has been deleted and Paul learns that Fritz has no idea whether he will be promoted or not. Was the book taken by mistake? Why didn't Laura come, and why did she delete her profile? Will Fritz be promoted?

Learning German with training wheelsThe characters in our story DON'T speak at a regular speed, just like native speakers among themselves. Why? They speak natural German. But we put in countless hours of work to direct every voice actor so that he or she speaks a bit slower and more clearly, adapted to the language level. You can always speed up the audio in the app. We believe this is the better way. Just as we believe that at the beginning, training wheels teach a child to ride a bike better than bruises from falls do. Paul and Fritz take a look at some nice cars in a showroom. He talks about the trip to Berlin. Fritz is excited and wants to come along. But he doubts Anna would join them. So Paul shows him Anna's answer. It says "Paul, I didn't even know that! I?ll come with you." Fritz is totally puzzled: How on earth did Paul manage to do that? Yesterday she was so angry at him ... How did Paul do it and what is it that Anna didn't know?

Fritz reads Paul's invitation email. He cleverly used the information about Anna's criminal record without giving away that he knows about it. He described his own theft as a child and the feelings of guilt that went with it. In doing so, he very skillfully created understanding for his situation. Fritz and Anna will join Paul on the trip to Berlin. But they don't know anything about the surveillance video or Paul?s intention. What exactly is he going to do in Berlin?

Learn German with Stories - the idea behind itWe felt that the best way to learn German is NOT using the old style teaching material with chapters full of tiny texts and unrelated stories. Our idea was to spoon-feed you German in very small bits. And to tell you parts of one big story at the same time. An awesome, full-blown story with different storylines that continues throughout all lessons. We wanted to keep you motivated and say "I can't wait to find out what happens next episode!" Anna arrives on the train at the last second. She couldn?t answer her phone because the battery is dead. Also, her bicycle is broken. That?s why she is late. The train departs and they talk about sights in Berlin. Fritz gets a phone call and talks like he is in love. Paul catches Anna lying: her phone battery is not empty. But Anna ignores Paul's question about this. Does Fritz have a new girlfriend? Annas cell phone battery is not empty. Why is she lying?

Fritz's mobile phone rings again, and he walks away so that they can?t hear what he?s talking. That?s when Anna wants to go to a shop for a moment. Paul takes the opportunity to secretly follow her. Is it his book that's hidden in Anna's handbag? What is Fritz hiding?

Scandal at the dinner buffet! Paul confronts Anna. He followed her and thinks he saw her trying to sell his book. And she was seen on the surveillance video with her bag. He also mentions her criminal record for theft. Anna is outraged. She was just trying to find a present for Paul?s birthday which he completely forgot. That's why she was looking for her old job hunting book at home. She put that big book in her handbag - that's why it wouldn?t close. She brought it to Berlin to show it to a book seller so that she can buy Paul the same book as a brand new edition. Taking a long time to find the book in her apartment was the reason she was late at the train station in Munich. Not because of a broken bicycle. Also, her cell phone was not empty. She just didn't have time to answer it. Anna's gift is just as big as Paul?s lost book. She says: ?This is the same bag as at the party. Your gift doesn't quite fit into the handbag. So THE book doesn't fit either, you idiot!? She slams the new job hunting book she bought for Paul on the table and walks away. If his lost book had been in her bag, he would have seen it sticking out in the surveillance video. He realizes, Fritz is also innocent - his bag has the same size as Anna?s bag. Paul mentioned Anna's criminal record. That was against his promise which he made to Fritz earlier. Only police officers can get such information. Will Fritz be angry about this?

Paul celebrates his birthday alone at home. He has no more friends. Now Fritz is mad at him, too, because he told Anna that he knows about her criminal record. He could have only got that information from a police officer like Fritz. He has an idea: Maybe someone threw the book out of the balcony at the party and picked it up from the bushes below afterwards? That way, the whole mystery is completely open again. Paul writes a message to the caretaker: Are there security cameras outside? He starts to feel ill. Was the book thrown down from the balcony? Who has it? Are there also security cameras outside?

Learning German with training wheelsThe characters in our story DON'T speak at a regular speed, just like native speakers among themselves. Why? They speak natural German. But we put in countless hours of work to direct every voice actor so that he or she speaks a bit slower and more clearly, adapted to the language level. You can always speed up the audio in the app. We believe this is the better way. Just as we believe that at the beginning, training wheels teach a child to ride a bike better than bruises from falls do. Paul is getting fired. He wasn?t aware that he didn?t report his illness to his boss. Instead, he accidentally sent the message to his dad - who didn't warn him of his mistake. So he was absent without notice. He clears his desk and calls Grandpa who says there is something Paul doesn't know yet about the book. He should bring it with him tomorrow. That way Grandpa can explain it. Paul is not sure if he should really confess that he lost the book. He hopes that Grandpa will forget this by tomorrow. Why didn't Paul?s Father warn him? Paul is sad and on his way to the police station to file a report. His parents call him. They want to stress him again. Paul counters: They don't help, and they didn't even try to warn him of his mistake. Accidentally sending the message for his boss to his dad has cost Paul his job. His mother becomes remorseful. That seems to be something that Fritz has been hiding. Does he have the book? If so, then he would become aware of the report. Therefore, Paul doesn't file charges.
